As millions of people around the world celebrate Easter and Passover, Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez (R-FL) took to Twitter to reiterate America’s unwavering support for Israel. The message comes amidst a new wave of rocket attacks launched from Syria against the Jewish state.
Rep. Gimenez tweeted: “While millions around the world who practice the Christian and Jewish faiths, are observing Easter and Passover, our ally the democratic, Jewish State of #Israel is under constant attack by cowardly terrorists. America stands with Israel and its right to defend itself.”

This statement follows a tweet from the Israel Defense Forces (@IDF) announcing that an IDF UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) is currently striking the launchers in Syria from which rockets were launched into Israeli territory earlier in the evening. These attacks have disrupted an otherwise peaceful Passover celebration for the citizens of Israel.
The ongoing rocket attacks have prompted a swift response from the Israeli military, with the IDF using UAVs to target and neutralize the launchers responsible for the aggression. This highlights Israel’s commitment to protecting its citizens and maintaining national security in the face of persistent threats.
Rep. Gimenez’s tweet has garnered significant attention and expressions of gratitude. Maor Elbaz-Starinsky, the Consul General of the Israeli Embassy in Miami, thanked Rep. Gimenez for his steadfast support, stating that it is highly appreciated. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) also expressed their gratitude for Gimenez’s leadership and moral clarity in standing with Israel.
Gimenez, a first-generation American of Cuban descent, has been a vocal advocate for strong U.S.-Israel relations throughout his tenure in Congress. He co-sponsored the bipartisan United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2021, which aims to strengthen U.S.-Israel security cooperation and authorized $3.3 billion in annual security assistance to Israel.
Rep. Gimenez has also been a proponent of recognizing Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and applauded the U.S. administration’s decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018 and frequently emphasizes the shared values and strategic interests that underpin the close relationship between the United States and Israel. He has called for continued collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, and technology.
